This charity thinks procedures are above real needs. They want an elderly applicant to fill in an on line application form and to attend in person in Earlston whilst living elsewhere. This in itself is ageist. The pet and the applicat have been assessed by one of their own original founders with 45 years of extensive experience in animal welfare and rehoming. This person has known the pet all its life, and assessed the applicant at her home as suitable. It is not only insulting to my friend that Borders Pet Rescue does not release the animal besed on her assessment, but also, clearly, the animal's welfare is not priority here. Shame.

Wheelchair user here that went to this place to adopt a cat only for them to NIT PICK over the tiniest things even though I drove for over an hour and a half!!!

Viewed a cat but then THEY REFUSED TO LET ME ADOPT IT COS THE CATIO I HAD WASN'T RIGHT AGAINST THE WINDOW AS MY ACCESS RAMP IS IN THE WAY!!!
Then they said I could view and adopt another cat the next day and then THEY WAITED TIL I WAS DRIVING OVER TO EMAIL AND CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT!!!! Horrible way they treat people!!!!

I DON'T recommend this place as the staff are not friendly to people nor are they inclusive to those who are different or disabled. I suggest going elsewhere if you want to adopt as this place sucks!!!

Such a shame that those animals will sit in the shelter longer than needed cos they do this to people! They don't think of the animals!!! And if you're disabled then go elsewhere as these people don't want the disabled to adopt their animals!!

Not allowed to see cats for adoption as you might disturb them! Went looking to see if I could adopt an older cat too. Guess it is back to buying kitten off a breeder. Not what I really wanted to do either. Ho hum disappointed

For all the good this place does to help animals, one of its staff has a cat she deliberately let's out when wildlife young are in abundance. Saw her cat on our property and it killed a baby rabbit. I was very upset.This cat is a known killer, brings his dead home to her. Does she try to set safer times to let him out ? NO ! Working at a place to save animals, she foes the opposite at home.Her cat is out first thing in the morning, night, anytime. When I told her what her cat did, she said, " then I'll kill my cat" . She is crazy, loopy. I called the sanctuary owner and he couldn't care less what she did.This sanctuary should employ staff who follow its ethics. What do they do to the animals they are supposed to CARE for, I wonder ? Shame on her. Shame on them. These are not ethical people running this place and SSPCA should be involved.

Found details on google for the nearest pet rescue centre for my Gran. Drove 40mins to be told by staff member we needed to make an appointment.

Advised staff member that they need to highlight this on their main page of website, on their google homepage or of even in the adoption section. You only find out you need to make an appointment after clicking on individual animals for adoption.

We will be going elsewhere to rehome a cat for my gran.
