I had the best experience with RAMAPO. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The whole adoption process only took a week. I originally wanted only one kitten but ended up coming home with two! Albie and Sylvester were playing and having too much fun together so I thought why not. They are both neutered and litter-trained which makes it a lot easier on my end. I would recommend RAMAPO to anyone who’s looking to adopt.

I've fostered for them for quite a few years. The fostering program is absolutely the BEST. They give a lot of support to foster families, and a lot of consideration when your foster is sick, or needs extra care. They allowed us to put one of our fosters down at the animal hospital and paid for it so we could be there for the cat we became so attached to. After fostering countless cats, we adopted our most recent foster. If you're unsure about adoption, foster an animal through RBARI and you can make a more informed decision about your adoption. The refuge itself is well maintained and the animals are very well cared for.

Wonderful team who responded quickly and in detail to my query. Each email has a personal response within 24 hours which I didn’t find with many other charity groups. Upon arrival you can see the trainers out walking and working g with other potential adoptees. Followup has been great - I strongly recommend you check their website if looking to adopt. This is my new girl Arie - she’s not thrilled with my computer time and wants us out chasing squirrels ?. She settled in right away

Our dog lulu recently passed. Believe me when I tell you our 12lb Chihuahua ruled! After picking up all her beds and blankets, I realized I had very little furniture (LOL). Truly she was our princess

I offered people some of her things. Most didn’t need beds and blankets. We decided to donate everything toRamapo-Bergen Animal Shelter. We donate money on a monthly basis.

The volunteer was so overwhelmed with appreciation, it really helped us through the grieving process.

I can't praise this shelter enough. The staff are excellent, the facilities are clean and well-maintained, and they have social distancing down cold. We live in NYC and there are waiting lists at every local shelter. Like so many other people, we decided to add a new pet during the pandemic. We had gotten a previous cat at this shelter 10+ years ago, so we called and made an appointment. We got one pretty quickly, and the process to park, go inside, and go up to the second floor where the cats are kept was very easy. The woman who helped us out was very patient with us and showed us all of the kittens. We fell in love with one kitten and took him home the same day. Follow-up appointments were fast and easy. Support this shelter and go there if you want a new family member!

Need to simplify this if you want people to adopt… appt? Really… make the site easier by showing all dogs and cats etc who are available so people can let you know they are extremely interested in a particular pet, come in and do necessary paperwork…

Wonderful experience. Rescued my new kitty there. Very clean shelter. Ramapo staff takes care of their rescues. It does not have
any oder and the dogs and cats and kittens look clean and healthy. Ready to be rescued. I would take them all if I owned a home and lots of land so they can run around free and have fun. I enjoyed being at Ramapo Shelter because the atmosphere was peaceful and perfect for the furries.

I can’t say enough about this shelter. After losing my 9 month old during a spay procedure I was heartbroken and looking for a young Dutch rabbit male to bond with our lady. Vincenzo, formerly known as “vin” was abandoned outside in the winter, attacked by a predator and left with a burrow fly larvae in his neck. Where many shelters might put him down Ramapo-Bergen went above and beyond to save this boy and find him a new life. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I am a very experienced rabbit owner, and drove all the way from Buffalo, NY to pick up this sweet gentleman. Clearly, he is now fitting perfectly into our family and Bernadette and I are so thankful to have him. I’ve continued to follow them and their incredible work and highly recommend adopting and supporting here.
