Lieu calme et reposant, loin de l'agitation de Disney. On prend soin des animaux qui ne peuvent être réhabilités en milieu naturel.

This non-profit rehabilitation center provides care to many injured & rehabilitated animals that are in need of care in hopes of release back into the wild. Staff is very friendly. Entry fee is extremely reasonable.
Their homes are vastly disappearing in Florida due to over building. Volunteers & Donations are always needed for these beautiful creatures to get on the road to recovery & release if possible. And to help with keeping them Fed & cleaning their temporary homes ( cages). It’s a great place to bring the family for a picnic & enjoy the beautiful acreage & wildlife & to educate ourselves on how we can help save these beautiful creatures.
Thankfully when we visited, there were not many animals to view ; hoping that it’s because they were released back into the wild.

Sweetest place to learn about their resident animals and how human development of the land affects the local animals. They had the best, most descriptive and engaging signage about their animals I’ve ever seen — wish more zoos would take a cue from them!

My kids were amazed to witness people bringing in an injured squirrel and duck and learn what may have hurt them and how the refuge would care for them. Also amazing to see a bald eagle nest! Would be even better if the refuge could set up a telescope to help visitors get a closer view. Thank you to all at the Back to Nature Refuge!

While their main building is currently (in 2023) a do-not-enter construction site, they do accept many injured or abandoned Florida wildlife. Call ahead first for hours & instructions. Also check out their website & Facebook page. / THANK YOU to Bonnie on the phone for her calm, helpful demeanor & for texting me follow-up instructions. THANK YOU as well to Christian for walking out to meet me at the front gate to retrieve the five baby possums (I found the mama possum dead at the side of the road, likely hit by a car.) / Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge is a hidden treasure next to Split Oak Forest in East Orlando. They are at the end of the road (Clapp Simms Duda Road), which is just off Narcoossee Road. This non-profit organization is worth their weight in gold!

The refuge is small but the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. One of them came out with me to point out the bald eagle nest nearby and let me use her binoculars to see the juvenile eagle. The animals looked well taken care of, with plates of fruit/veggies donated from Publix and dead chicks for one of the owls. The staff are very caring; they keep enclosures clean and even rearrange the fixtures so that the animals don't get bored.

Entrance fee was only $5. Their main building is a cute portable with a gift shop and a bathroom.
There's a map of local hiking trails there too. The staff are great at describing the trails. They also reminded me to stay hydrated so I wouldn't collapse outside, which I appreciated.

I want to give a big thank you to Judy and the other staff I met on my visit. It was an amazing experience.

Had an absolutely amazing time today at the back to nature wildlife refuge, they do an amazing job of rescuing animals and putting them back to the wild, there's a small zoo like enclosure you can walk around and see the wonders they do, there's also a nice little walk to a huge lake where you can see alligators in the wild but from a pretty safe platform, we saw the mother with lots of little babies my daughter loved it, it's free to park and cheap to enter at 5$ each, theres nice clean toilets and the staff are very helpful informed and delightful, would recommend this place to everyone, beautiful.

A great organization that helps about 4000 animals a year. They were very sweet and not only took in a possum I found injured but we're able to tell me how he was doing when I went to tour the next week.
