Came to Holmfirth for a day out. Despite the weather, what a wonderful place to visit. However, the main attraction, as far as I was concerned, were Compo's and Nora Batty's houses. For those who don't know, search
' Last of The Summer Wine.' Took a little walk to Sid's Cafe also featured in the show for a well-earned cup of tea. Nice friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Then, off to the resting place of Bill Owen (Compo) and Peter Sallis (Clegg), who both brought laughter to all for so many years.

A must visit for fans of last of the summer wine this small exhibition of props from the show and a room set up of compos living room. Plenty of information about each series on the walls and a couple of interactive computer screens one with a very moving tribute to Bill Owen by Peter sallis.
Very reasonably priced only £3 per adult to get in .
There is a gift shop selling last of the summer wine merchandise for very reasonable prices.
Well worth a visit if you love the show.

Iconic British comedy series... the house is now a museum..
£3 entrance fee for adults and £1.50 for children which is very reasonable in my opinion
Loved it...it contains various props and photos of the series and it's actors from over the years
Some fascinating facts about the series are dotted around the museum and make very interesting reading
Took me about twenty minutes to explore
Little gift shop selling souvenirs for a momento of your visit on site...
Last of the summer wine is a favourite of mine so found it thoroughly enjoyable

Stayed in Noras cottage for a week, a must have for any Summer Wine fan.
Sid's cafe & Wrinkley stocking cafe both well worth a visit & both reasonably priced.
Visited Summer wine museum before leaving today, which is situated below the Wrinkley Stocking cafe, cheap to enter where you can see Compos living room & take photos. The down Side of the musem was the lack of interest from girl assistant who had no interest when asked questions about items, body language told us she would rather not have been there.
There was a dress up box for people to dress up & take photos but only part of Compo costume was a couple of pairs of whellies, no hat or tatty jacket when we asked if there was a jacket & hat we were told abruptly if it's not in box then no.
Considering Bill Owen opened this museum as a tribute to Last of the summer wine himself, a don't think he would be impressed, so please to keep this museum going true to Compo have an assistant that is actually interested in the series & get involved more with customers.
Museum is supposed to open at 10.30 assistant didn't turn up until 10.50 on Wednesday 15th. When we came out of Noras cottage there were people that had been waiting since 10.30, they were just walking away when the assistant came around the corner.

We came here today to have a look around and I would never of thought how tiny and narrow the walk way and steps are. I also took a sneaky picture through window showed my husband the pic and dropped my phone on compos steps outside his door proper gutted I was but enjoyed ourselves and would recommend to others. Next time we visit we will go inside.
