We adopted our dog from here back in 2020. I was just reminiscing on what a lovely place this was, how helpful they were, and how much I appreciate what they do. Just wanted to leave some love for ya'll, you're doing God's work. As for Igor, he's living his best life, every day. ❤️

I am so grateful a rescue like this exists in Philadelphia. I have taken many community cats I found here, and they always get adopted within a week. I recently started volunteering, and the amount of work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes is incredible.

The animals are so well taken care of and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would gladly recommend anyone to adopt an animal from here!

Morris Animal Shelter is one of my favorites, they are flexible and care about their animals the adoption fees are reasonable and the staff are nice. We adopted our dog Richard two years ago and the rest is history. They do their best with very limited resources to safe animals and give them the love and care they need. Highly recommended

I do not think I have ever met more empathetic people in my life than the staff at Morris Animal Refuge. The volunteers range from young adults to med students. And they are so compassionate - to the humans as well as the animals. One time I visited while I was waiting for my kitten I had a brief conversation with a volunteer that felt better than therapy (and it's really hard to say "it's raining" when you're indoors).

The staff will vet you properly but not be ridiculously gatekeep-y about their rules for adoption. Most importantly THEY WILL TAKE THE ANIMAL BACK. Weigh this decision extremely carefully but if you MUST release the animal and have no suitable foster - they do. Do not be irresponsible. Do not abuse their kindness. Do not needlessly traumatize your cat/dog. And do not abuse the volunteer's kindness.

It is as with volunteer supervision, you can hold the cats. It is very hard to be sad when you can hold a purring senior cat or a rowdy cat four days a week. They also have a volunteer dog walking program if you can't house a dog currently or if you need to walk more and want a friend or if you have a vitamin D deficiency and need motivation or if you're training for a 5k and knowledgeable enough to handle a boxer-like breed or if you SIMPLY LOVE DOGS AND WISH TO WALK ONE.

They have a donation bin with a list of what you can and can't donate. I was always told waste not, want not and I don't think I can imagine an organization more worthy of donations of both fungible goods as well as monetary donations in my humble opinions.

I'm not getting a bumper sticker or making a t-shirt however... I didn't rescue my cat. She rescued me. My cat is not legally a service animal and can never be one. But she sets the schedule so to speak. I eat with her at least three times a day while crate training her. Have to clean the litterbox once per day so might as well tidy up a bit too. She's got the zoomies so knock off endlessly scrolling and toss her some toys. In my humble opinion, Morris Animal Rescue has given me one of the best blessings of my life and for that, I am forever grateful.

PS: I renamed her Medusa 😉

This place and people both deserve a 5 stars. We have found an amazing super-friendly big boy cat there named Bean. And I hope that we will have a lot of years ahead together with this sweet boy.

Staff is friendly. Understanding and very knowledgeable. Morris was extremely helpful in getting our senior relatives cat into their refuge so he would not be on the street when she had to move.

We have adopted from Morris in the past and now we are a foster family. The medical and foster staff are great, incredibly supportive, and there for you as a foster every step of the way. If you are looking for a new furry family member please consider adopting from Morris.
