I recently adopted a kitten from the OMHS and can’t say enough good things about the shelter. I have adopted a few kittens and cats from here over the years and the adoption process was smooth and easy. Dedicated animal care staff and volunteers take wonderful care of the animals. I received my kitten’s medical history as well as free food courtesy of Royal Canin. Highly recommend finding your next family member at the OMHS!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Oakville & Milton Humane Society and I can’t express enough how wonderful this place is.

The staff is incredibly dedicated, compassionate, and knowledgeable, making every animal feel loved and cared for. The facility is clean, well-organized, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

During my visit, I was impressed by the high level of care and attention each animal receives. The staff was more than happy to answer my questions and provide information about their efforts in animal welfare. It’s evident that they go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of animals and the community.

I highly recommend the Oakville & Milton Humane Society to anyone interested in learning more about animal care, supporting a fantastic organization, or considering adopting in the future. This shelter truly stands out as a beacon of hope and compassion for animals in need!

I adopted my beautiful baby Tara from here almost two months ago! She came to me in perfect health and they were completely transparent about her medical history since coming to the shelter, especially with her blindness. The adoption process moved very quickly from application to taking her home. The staff were all wonderful and very kind. A big thank you to her foster home for sending some of her favourite toys with her 🙂

It’s been a week since Senshi joined our family. We’re so happy to have found him at the Oakville Milton humane society. Given that he was once a street cat we were surprised to see him be so social and loving! Senshi was adopted in great health and the adoption process was very smooth. It’s easy to see that the animals here are very loved and taken good care of. Thank you again for helping us with this process and ensuring that Senshi is adjusting well!

We had a great experience adopting Mango (formerly Deedee) from OMHS - everyone is very kind and they made the adopting process easy and stress-free. They even covered the costs of our first order for Mango's food. Mango is very happy in her new home and we are very happy to have her!

I love how this place runs! The people working there are just beautiful people inside and out! Very clean and organized. They found my run away cat and with his micro chip located me and we were reunited. They offer kid programs during the summer and things like princess parties throughout the year.

We were looking to adopt a hamster, and saw that they had a beautiful little syrian hamster up for adoption. We reached out, and within days she was ours! She is such a cute and loving hamster, we couldn't be happier. The process was easy, and the staff are so kind and informative.

my friend and i came into the shelter during our break at work in hopes to get more information about donating some things for the animals there. we got the information needed and came again august 28th around 1pm during visitation to see peaches a black dog that is up for adoption. when i went back to see her i noticed she wasn’t in her kennel and went to the front desk to ask where she was as there was no adoption sign and we had come just the day before and got to see her. the front desk receptionist paula was disgustingly rude. i understand having a bad day but this was the worst experience i have ever had especially at a place like a shelter. i asked her if she knew any information about where peaches was and immediately responded with “well if she’s not there then she’s been adopted” and i told her how i don’t see the adoption sign on her cage so i was wondering if she’s still here or just not in the kennel at the moment. she immediately gave me attitude and told me “well do you want to her adopt her because i don’t know what to tell you, you can fill a form online but there’s many that are sent in.” i’m aware of the procedure as i’ve adopted from the shelter before but what i had asked was not at all what i got out of the conversation. i asked if there was someone else who would be able to help me or give me more information and she told me everyone is busy. i left feeling so extremely disappointed and disrespected. i can only imagine the kind of environment they have at the shelter when the front desk, main person of contact, has no skills in customer service and a bad attitude. if you don’t like your job please find another, but to treat people like this is horrible! i also know posting a review won’t fix the issue but i hope it speaks to whoever is in charge at the shelter. i think we should be empathetic towards one other especially in such a vulnerable place.
