This is a fantastic rescue that cares about it's dogs. They are a no kill shelter that takes in dogs from other shelters to keep them from being euthanized, from owners who have to surrender their dogs, and dogs that come from bad backgrounds to give them a second chance.

The dogs are extremely well cared for, and they have an extensive foster network to make sure as many dogs as possible are in homes getting socialized before they are adopted. They vet the homes and get vetranarian references before they will adopt their dogs out.

We have fostered and adopted from them, and we continue to work with then as much as we can to help them and their mission of saving as many dogs as possible.

I've never met a more kind, caring, and dedicated person to saving animals out of the pure kindness of their heart as Michelle is.

I've met her multiple times and cannot say enough about what a great human being she is and that is aside from the selfless amazing work she does rescuing our 4 legged friends and finding them the perfect home.

To anyone reading the small number of negative reviews here......this is what I have to say to you:

I've seen Michelle show up to appointments to meet dogs / get records / paperwork a bit late and here was why:

She showed up with watery eyes with a maybe 5 lb Chihuahua in her arms. This dog had been abandoned outside for days after being kicked so hard the owner broke its leg and decided to kick the dog outside and not feed it.

The owner then got his neighbor to take the abandoned and abused poor Dog by paying him $10 to take the dog. The new owner for the $10 broken legged Chihuahua called Michelle and she will always go RESCUE the animals first. So if you don't get a reply back or if she is exhausted......this is the life of people who work in animal rescue.

This is one small example out of part of Michelle's day.

Have some respect for the people that selflessly do this work out of the kindness of their hearts. She will do anything to save the animals we love and care so much about.

To the people that are looking for the perfect rescue to adopt from this is what I have to say to you:

You found the perfect rescue and Michelle is the best out there at rescuing you will find.

We had a great experience adopting our newest edition Callie aka Streusel. Her foster mommy Stacey was nothing short of amazing and very educating. We had originally went to "Good Mews Animal Foundation" and they were AWFUL, RUDE and made us extremely UNCOMFORTABLE. So we want to thank you guys for turning our perspective of adopting around.

I was so impressed with Refuge Rescue. They assess each dog and make sure it has all the shots, is heartworm tested and microchipped. They even take the dogs out and socialize them with other dogs. Foster homes are also used to learn more about each dog. They have a complete picture of what kind of home will be best for each dog. I will never get a rescue from any other place. Our dog Smoky is just as represented and he came into our family like he had been here his whole life. We were given the chance to see if he would fit in and get along with our cats -- and he did! I can’t say enough amazing things about Michelle at Refuge Rescue. She has one of the kindest hearts of anyone I know. She truly goes above and beyond for these pups. I have gotten both of my pups from Refuge and I recommend them 100% to anyone looking to adopt or even surrender a dog. She truly cares about each and every dog she rescues and ensures they will be adopted out to loving, caring homes. I LOVE Michele at Refuge Rescue. Michele is an angel to me and all the thousands of animals she has saved in her many years of rescue. I have always wanted to rescue but it is hard to find Chihuahua puppies up for adoption. There is nothing wrong with older dogs but older rescue dogs would not get along with my puppies I already owned. I was looking online and found a brother and sister 5 month old Chihuahua mix and I applied. Michele truly cares about these animals. She truly cares about finding the perfect fit not only for the animal but for the family as well. I can't imagine my life without Callie and Ollie. I would recommend anyone to go through Refuge Rescue. When Michele met me to bring me my angels she went to go rescue another family of dogs. This women is always working to help these homeless babies. Thank You again Refuge Rescue and Michele!!!!!!

Michelle was very rude when she picked up the phone. I won't be coming to this shelter based on a single phone call. Hire more professional people please.

If you're looking to adopt a dog these are the people you need to know. They are so loving and have saved so many pups. We met out Xena at an adoption event and were immediately in love with her. Refuge Rescue took the time to get to know us and our other dog to make sure that Xena would be going to a good forever home. The extra time they took makes be believe that they care deeply for the dogs they rescue.
