This is a nice quiet place to go and enjoy nature. I wasn't fortunate enough to catch any owls or large birds, but I did get to enjoy some of the wildlife out there.

I went here in late summer, I grew up near here, and it used to be a somewhat abandoned airport. I learned to drive onbthe huge runway of this abandoned airport.

Later it was a high-speed driving school for police. This is a much needed sanctuary.

This was once a very rural area with a lot of dairy and horse farming, and now the density of humans is much much higher.

It is very beautiful, it seems that there are people who are very serious about keeping it as a sanctuary, who visit just to check up.

I was only there for about an hour because I was with somebody who had mobility issues, so I took a quick walk while they explored the platforms.

Cool park! Not much shade. A nice observation platform (new) and pavilion. Great places to do bird watching 🙂

Very peaceful and picturesque place. Nice for an easy walk or just to sit and meditate. Also a good place to take your binoculars and watch birds. There's a beekeeper spot near the entrance of the park, but not entirely sure you'd want to go there (there's bees of course!).

I happened through the area on a day trip and stopped in to see if this could be somewhere to come back to when I was better prepared for birdwatching (nothing like forgetting the binoculars and a better camera lens). What a great place. Wide open grassland, very nice observation platform. There were other trails, good parking and a small unisex bathroom. There was a meeting of some of the regular patrons that was going to start and they were very friendly and helpful. This place is a gem, I'll definitely be back

Happy to see this land preserved for nature. There were plenty of birds, butterflies, and other insects to see. The walk is a bit long for the whole loop but surely plenty of exercise! You get some great views of the surrounding mountains. The trail could be better plowed but this is really my only main complaint. Would definitely recommend long pants due to the tall grass at times and many insects.

As a newbie birdwatcher, I have fallen absolutely in LOVE with the Grasslands. I first visited during the April eclipse, only to find out that it is a birding hotspot. Whoever maintains it does an excellent job keeping it wild and welcoming for all. There are observation decks and gazebos and trails for all to enjoy nature in.
