Amazing place . I rescued 6 baby squirrels that fell from the nest . They recommend to leave them their for a few hours to see if the mother would come back… long story short she didn’t . And woodland took them in . Thank you so much for what you guys do

My dog found a baby bunny, thankfully did not injure it. Some kitten milk, dandelion greens and a quiet shelter for the night.
Called WWF next morning and was told to bring it right over. Estimated age of 2-3 weeks so would still be near mom but starting to eat on its own. Was a tremendous relief that they would care and release the bunny. Thank you

This wonderful facility and the amazing folks who work there will renew your faith in humanity. My mother found a sick and injured orphaned baby bunny in her backyard. After calling several facilities over the course of 2 days, Woodlands Wildlife Refuge was the only facility to return our call. A couple of other facilities answered when we called them, but their instant refusal and rushed, irritated tone made us feel like we were inconveniencing them and it seemed like they couldn’t get us off the phone quickly enough. However, all of our interactions with the folks at Woodlands Wildlife Refuge (from Melissa on the phone to Melody in the admissions area) was so patient, so kind and so compassionate. After gathering some basic information, Melissa told us we could bring the bunny to WWR right away. My very warm welcome by Melody at the admissions door made me feel like I was leaving the tiny life I was carrying with me in the best hands possible. There is no doubt that these incredible people do what they do out of a profound love and respect for wildlife and out of the kindness of their hearts. Thank you, Melissa, Melody and everyone at WWR for everything you do each day. You have our love, support and admiration.

We rescued three baby squirrels that had fallen from a great height out of their nest. We took care of them for a little over a week, and they were fine and full of energy. We decided to take them shelter thinking they’d teach them how to live on their own,they were NOT too young when we took them to them there. I contacted the shelter, but when they finally responded, none of the three survived. Their only explanation was that they were too young.

My niece found 4 squirrels and managed to keep them alive for 7 days. She brought them here and within 3 days they killed them. Please don't bring animals here if you love them. Take them somewhere else.

I brought 4 strong, healthy baby squirrels that I took care of, for an entire week. There was nothing wrong with any of them when I brought them to woodland refuge! Nothing at all! I am a woman who knew nothing about raising squirrels but I learned through google and youtube, and they did just fine with me. I thought by taking them to woodland refuge they would thrive there and that these people would prepare them for the wild when they were ready, I was sadly mistaken. I spoke to Melody and asked her if they would be ok there and she reassured me that they would be fine! Within 2 days they were all dead, it’s crazy that i was able to keep them alive for an entire week, and people who I thought were professionals couldn’t keep them alive for 2 days. Funny how not one stayed alive, they all some how died! I was so heart broken, and so hurt by this! I didn’t want to send them there but I wasn’t able to care for them do to work, I trusted these people! You seriously have no idea what happens to any animal that you take there. So I went on social media and tagged them in all my stories about what happened to my squirrels and they BLOCKED ME!!! If you knew you couldn’t take care of the squirrels then you should have told me! I saved these baby squirrels and my goal was to keep them alive, but instead I drove them to there death! To Woodland Wildlife Refuge! Not sure how these people have any good ratings! You people are cruel and evil!

Super nice people doing great work to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife! Took in an orphaned bunny my dogs found in hopes to raise it and release it back into the wild.

We brought a sick baby bunny we found in the backyard. The place was beautiful and quiet, surrounded by nature, and we were informed that there would be updates about the bunny. I am very grateful for their practice, and feel relieved that the bunny is in good hands now.

Social Work

I have closely followed the work of Woodlands Wildlife Refuge for nearly 10 years. In that time, I have attended community events they have participated in and have personally met and spoke with their staff members. I can attest to the wonderful work they do and the many animals they have helped, as well as, the many sacrifices and difficult decisions they have made. In response to the negative review I recently read regarding squirrels, I thank you for the concern you demonstrated for them and for taking the time to try and save them. I understand the devastation felt when they did not survive but I feel it is unfair and irresponsible to leave the review you left. Please understand that animals are extremely good at hiding their illnesses. It is part of their survival mechanism to protect them from predators in the wild. Unless you are a licensed veterinarian, have conducted medical tests and had an animal under extensive observation, there is no way for you to know the extent of an animal's injuries or ailments. I hope you will take the time to learn more about Woodlands Wildlife Refuge in the future and understand that reviews based on emotion, rather than facts, can have devastating effects on animals in need, as well as, those who sacrifice so much to try and help them.
